Thoughts of the ArchBishop
Christmas Hope
Recently, I got to do something I don’t often get to enjoy—I took a weekend off from work and ministry to spend some cherished time with my best friend. It turned out to be a weekend overflowing with relaxation, rejuvenation, laughter, and love. In the midst of all the fun and games, I took a moment to reflect on the trans individuals who may be feeling isolated, without friends or family to share this holiday season. That thought really touched my heart and shifted my mood. I felt an overwhelming urge to hug my best friend. In that moment, I realized that loving me could be a bit of a challenge; I can be stubborn and strong-willed, and I recognize that I might not always be the easiest person to love. That said, I’m genuinely grateful for his unwavering support, love, and even his prayers. (Though he won't say it, I know he’s got my back more often than I realize!)
As we prepare to celebrate our Savior’s birth this week, I truly hope the Spirit wraps its arms around those who feel like outcasts. More than anything, I wish for someone to reach out with love to them—not because it's the easy choice or the popular one, but because there’s more than enough love in God's house to share.
